So that, the camera and the gimbal can dance in perfect unison, on a dance floor the size of a dime, from a kilometre away and 500 metres up.

Systems engineers ensure the whole is greater than the sum of its circuits and cables; their job is to see the big picture.

They find out what the customer really needs and organize the technical effort to make it happen. And they make tough decisions; design trades that impact size, weight, power and cost.

The best systems engineers know their product inside-out; they can troubleshoot problems over the phone, fix failures in the field, and keep track of dozens of possibilities as they test their hypotheses. Having a photographic memory doesn’t hurt.
